Driver Recruitment & Safety Specialist (Part-Time)
Location: Southport Trucking – Holland, MI
Schedule: Part-Time (20+ hours per week)
About the Position
Southport Trucking is seeking an experienced Driver Recruitment & Safety Specialist to help grow and support our driver team. This position is responsible for recruiting qualified CDL drivers, assisting with the hiring process, maintaining driver qualification files, and supporting DOT safety and compliance requirements.
The ideal candidate has previous experience in trucking, transportation, recruiting, safety, or fleet administration and enjoys building relationships while keeping organized records and ensuring compliance.
Responsibilities
- Recruit and communicate with prospective CDL drivers
- Review applications and conduct initial applicant screenings
- Coordinate interviews and assist with hiring decisions
- Follow up with applicants throughout the hiring process
- Create and manage online job postings
- Build relationships with recruiting sources and driver networks
- Assist with onboarding new drivers
- Maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files
- Track CDL licenses, medical cards, and compliance deadlines
- Assist with DOT safety documentation and recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate personnel and safety records
- Support driver retention efforts
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience in transportation, trucking, recruiting, safety, human resources, or fleet administration is required.
- Experience recruiting CDL drivers is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and Driver Qualification (DQ) files is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard computer applications.
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
