Conveyor Design Engineer

We are searching for a Conveyor Design Engineer with expertise in designing material handling and conveyor systems. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience, proficiency in 2D and 3D layout tools, and a strong understanding of conveyor systems layout, mechanical design, systems integration, and automation. This role offers the flexibility of working remotely or locally at our Owings Mills MD location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop conveyor systems for packaging handling – post and parcel.
- Create and modify 2D and 3D layouts using CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Perform structural and mechanical calculations to ensure system reliability and durability.
- Specify and select conveyor components such as belts, rollers, chains, drives, pulleys, bearings, and motorized systems.
- Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including BOMs, fabrication drawings, and installation manuals.
- Work closely with controls engineers to integrate sensors, VFDs, PLCs, UIs, and automation features into conveyor designs.
- Develop and optimize conveyor flow layouts for efficiency, load handling, and space utilization.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards (OSHA, ANSI, ISO) and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and project management teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Conduct risk analysis and develop mitigation for improvements.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in designing conveyors and material handling systems.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of belt conveyors, roller conveyors, chain conveyors, and specialty conveyor systems.
- Experience with power transmission components (motors, gear reducers, couplings, and drive systems).
- Understanding of load calculations, tension analysis, and material selection for conveyors.
- Familiarity with controls and automation integration, including sensors, drives, and motor control systems.
- Knowledge of conveyor safety standards (CEMA, OSHA, ANSI, ISO).
- Hands-on experience with on-site conveyor system installation, commissioning, and testing.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote or local environment.
- Willingness to travels to jobsites during installation and start-up to assist with installation and commissioning. Travel should not exceed 25% on average.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
