Responsibilities:
- Perform sterilization processes and procedures to ensure the cleanliness and safety of medical equipment and instruments.
- Follow established protocols and guidelines for sterilization, including proper handling, cleaning, disinfection, and packaging of instruments.
- Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and gas plasma sterilizers.
- Monitor and document sterilization cycles, including time, temperature, and pressure readings.
- Maintain inventory of sterile supplies and restock as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure proper handling and storage of sterile instruments.
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures to prevent the spread of infections.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to understand the purpose and function of medical instruments.
- Proficiency in sterile processing techniques, including decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization.
- Familiarity with medical terminology to accurately identify instruments and equipment.
- Ability to follow aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during the sterilization process.
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation of sterilization cycles.
- Excellent organizational skills to maintain inventory of sterile supplies.
