The Criminal Justice (CJ) Planner coordinates and supports the functions of the York County Criminal Justice Advisory Board (CJAB) and the York County Reentry Coalition (YCRC). Coordination includes calling meetings, setting agendas, and maintaining records for CJAB & YCRC boards, and where needed, committees and subcommittees.

- Maintain current, up-to-date strategic plans for CJAB & YCRC and maintain membership records for YCRC and the CJAB.
- Align the activities of CJAB & YCRC with the priorities stated in their respective strategic plans.
- Engage regularly with CJAB & YCRC leadership to develop agendas for and keep records of regularly scheduled Board meetings.
- Coordinate and support the work of CJAB & YCRC committees and subcommittees internally and with each other, including the setting of agendas, creation of reports or documents, maintenance of records, and coordination of tasks between committees.
- Keep abreast of PA Commission on Crime & Delinquency’s minimum operating standards for criminal justice advisory boards and reentry coalitions and ensure compliance with such.
- Proactively support collaboration between government agencies and community-based organizations to meet CJAB and/or YCRC strategic priorities.
- Track CJAB & YCRC activities in relation to other major initiatives to avoid duplication of efforts.
- Collect and analyze data pertinent to the well-informed operation of CJAB & YCRC at least annually including full criminal justice trends report at least every two years.
- Participate with Countywide efforts to collect and synthesize data to streamline information sharing and identify Criminal Justice trends and outcomes related to the CJAB and the YCRC to guide both initiatives future efforts.
- The CJ planner may be called upon to write, manage, or report on grants that fund activities of CJAB & YCRC.
- Work with CJAB leadership to hold a Retreat annually to present information and set strategic priorities.
- Guide YCRC Board and committees in developing strategic priorities and annual committee work plans.
- Prepare for and hold an annual Reentry Summit for YCRC.
- Coordinate YCRC’s ability to offer Reentry Simulations to the community at least once annually.
- Author and amend bylaws for both organizations as necessary.
- Prepare presentations and speak to community stakeholders about both CJAB and YCRC’s purpose and accomplishments.
- Maintain a contact database for YCRC, send out periodic updates to the membership, and administer YCRC’s social media accounts.
- Create and distribute reports, bulletins, social media posts, website copy, and flyers as needed to inform stakeholders and/or the public about CJAB & YCRC activities.
- A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, planning or a related field.
- Two years’ experience in strategic planning, working with public or nonprofit boards and committees, or related field.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite software. Experience creating public-facing outreach materials preferred. Familiarity with basic website creation and maintenance a plus.
- Grant writing and management experience strongly preferred.
