The City of Escanaba is seeking an energetic, dependable, and service-oriented individual to join our Recreation Department as a Recreation Assistant.
This is a diverse position that combines customer service, clerical work, recreation programming, facility maintenance, and support for City recreational assets. No two days are the same! The ideal candidate enjoys working with the public, takes pride in maintaining facilities, and is willing to work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year.
What You'll Do
- Assist with recreation programs and community events.
- Provide customer service to residents and visitors.
- Maintain records, reports, and departmental information.
- Support operations at the Civic Center and Marina.
- Perform cleaning, custodial, and facility maintenance duties.
- Assist with grounds maintenance, snow removal, mowing, and landscaping.
- Help maintain City recreational facilities and assets.
- Supervise and train seasonal and part-time staff as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with the public preferred.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and early mornings as needed.
- Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Residency Requirement
Employees must reside within a 20-mile radius of Escanaba City Limits.
Compensation
Starting Wage: $21.97 per hour
