POSITION SUMMARY
New-Com is seeking an experienced MEP Project Coordinator to support the construction and successful delivery of commercial building and heavy industrial (water/wastewater) construction projects. This is a technical, field-oriented role requiring practical knowledge of HVAC, Electrical (low-medium voltage), Plumbing, HVAC Controls/Building Automation, Low Voltage systems, and instrumentation and controls.
The position works closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, MEP trade partners, design consultants, commissioning personnel, and Owner representatives to coordinate technical documents, procurement, installation sequencing, testing, commissioning, and turnover. The successful candidate must understand how building systems/control systems are installed and integrated—not simply how documents are processed.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
We are seeking a field-minded technical coordinator who can review MEP documents, walk the work, recognize constructability or system-interface conflicts, and drive resolution before issues affect cost, schedule, quality, or commissioning. Experience with airports, water/wastewater plants, fire stations, public safety, municipal, educational, mission-critical, or other complex operational facilities is highly desirable.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Bridge the gap between design documentation, subcontractor execution, field installation, system integration, commissioning, and Owner turnover. Success means resolving issues early, protecting procurement and installation milestones, maintaining accountability for technical deliverables, and supporting delivery of fully operational facilities.
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Systems, or related discipline. Acceptable Alternative: Associate degree recognized technical/vocational education, apprenticeship, or equivalent MEP/building-systems trade training combined with progressively responsible field experience. A four-year degree does not replace the required practical construction experience.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE / REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum three (3) years of relevant construction field experience is required, with meaningful exposure to multiple MEP/building systems. Candidates must be able to read architectural/MEP drawings, specifications, submittals and coordination documents; understand system interfaces and sequencing; communicate effectively with field and design teams; manage multiple technical issues; and spend meaningful time in the field.
PREFERRED SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE
Procore or comparable construction management software; Bluebeam Revu; Microsoft Office 365/Excel; Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6; AUTOCAD; and BIM coordination platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, or Navisworks.
