Mr. Handyman of Kanawha Valley is looking for a dependable, hardworking Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician who enjoys staying active, working outdoors, and taking pride in maintaining properties.
This is a full-time, year-round position with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule. You'll help maintain our facilities and grounds while supporting our Service Professionals in the field. If you're motivated, eager to learn, and have a strong work ethic, this position offers the opportunity to develop valuable trade skills and grow into a Service Professional role.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine building inspections and identify maintenance needs
- Complete minor building repairs including drywall patching, painting, light carpentry, and hardware repairs
- Replace ceiling tiles, light bulbs, air filters, and other building components
- Keep buildings clean, safe, and well maintained
- Perform daily janitorial duties including cleaning offices, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas
- Empty trash and maintain cleaning supplies
- Mow, trim, edge, and maintain lawns and landscaped areas
- Perform seasonal landscaping, leaf removal, mulching, and snow and ice removal
- Deliver tools, materials, and supplies to technicians and job sites
- Pick up parts from local vendors
- Organize and maintain shop areas, company tools, and equipment
- Assist Service Professionals with maintenance and repair tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required)
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles while transporting tools, materials, and supplies
- Dependable with excellent attendance
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Comfortable performing physical work indoors and outdoors in all seasons
- Able to lift 50 pounds and perform bending, climbing, kneeling, and standing throughout the day
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in building maintenance
- Groundskeeping or landscaping experience
- Janitorial or custodial experience
- Small engine maintenance experience
- General construction or handyman experience
Experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person who demonstrates a strong work ethic and a desire to learn.
