Summary
Mechanics are required to perform a range of duties and responsibilities that can differ from day to day depending on the jobs that they are assigned. This position can include anything from routine maintenance work to specialized repairs. Mechanics should be familiar and experienced in working around various pieces of heavy equipment. This worker must also have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
Essential Job Duties
Perform necessary mechanical repairs to ensure proper performance and safety of vehicles and equipment. Work on projects / tasks assigned, follow all established safety processes and procedures.
- Conduct routine maintenance on equipment, systems, and vehicles
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs with limited supervision
- Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary
- Weld, cut and fabricate equipment and components as needed
- Maintain shop, equipment and tools in safe operating condition

Qualifications and Skills
Certification from a vocational school or trade school (preferred)
A minimum of 1 year experience working on vehicles and/or equipment
In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems
Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
