Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Project SEARCH Skills Trainer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with young adults with disabilities who are participating in the Project SEARCH program. Your primary responsibility will be to provide training, guidance, and support to help them develop job skills, enhance their independence, and prepare for long-term employment. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting training sessions to teach job-related skills, such as workplace communication, time management, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Developing individualized training plans based on participants' abilities, interests, and career goals.
- Coordinating with Project SEARCH instructors, employers, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and effective training experience.
- Providing ongoing support and mentoring to participants, both individually and in group settings, to address specific needs and challenges.
- Assessing participants' progress regularly and adjusting training strategies as necessary to maximize their skill development.
- Collaborating with local employers to facilitate internships and work placements for participants, ensuring they gain practical experience in diverse job settings.
- Assisting participants in job searching, resume development, interview preparation, and other aspects of the employment process.
- Advocating for participants' needs and rights, ensuring they receive appropriate accommodations and support in the workplace.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of participant progress, training outcomes, and employment placements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in special education, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, or a related field, OR
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in a vocational training or job coaching capacity.
- Knowledge of best practices in disability employment services, transition-to-work programs, and vocational training.
- Familiarity with the Project SEARCH model and its core components.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate individuals with disabilities.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Experience in delivering training and instruction to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of instructors, employers, and community partners.
- Compassionate, patient, and supportive approach towards individuals with disabilities.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.50 - $16.00 per hour
