Position Overview
Legacy Site Development is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Estimator to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for civil construction projects by reviewing plans, specifications, quantities, labor requirements, equipment needs, and material costs.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of civil construction including grading, paving, underground utilities and site concrete. Candidates are comfortable working with estimating and takeoff software and can manage multiple bids and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Review construction plans, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements to determine project scope.
- Prepare detailed estimates for civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project-related costs.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze earthwork, paving, and other site development requirements.
- Utilize estimating and takeoff software such as AGTEK, On-Screen Takeoff and Procore.
- Solicit and review pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate bids.
- Work with project managers, engineers, and other team members to evaluate project requirements and identify potential cost considerations.
- Attend site walks and pre-bid meetings as needed to evaluate existing conditions and better understand project requirements.
- Review drawings and specifications for potential discrepancies, risks, or items that may impact project pricing.
- Develop detailed bid proposals and cost breakdowns.
- Maintain organized estimating documentation and supporting information for each project.
- Assist with bid reviews, pricing strategies, and project handoffs after award.
- Stay informed of current labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of construction estimating experience preferred.
- Previous estimating experience in civil construction, earthwork, and/or asphalt paving.
- Working knowledge of civil construction methods, sequencing, materials, equipment, and field operations.
- Experience with AGTEK, On-Screen Takeoff and Procore is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate estimates.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills when working with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams.
- Ability to prioritize multiple estimates and meet bid deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous project management experience is a plus but is not required.
