Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, and dump trucks in accordance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts when necessary
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across designated areas
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation following FMCSA and hazardous materials regulations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with safety standards
- Handle hazardous materials or dangerous goods following all hazardous materials regulations when applicable
- Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate cargo loading, unloading, and route planning for optimal efficiency
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL A license
- Skilled in operating manual transmission vehicles and various truck types including flatbed, tanker, refrigerated trailer, dump truck, and roll-off truck
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, and hazardous materials handling procedures
- Ability to use GPS navigation tools effectively for route planning and real-time adjustments
- Experience with load & unload operations, including freight handling and securing cargo safely
- Familiarity with forklift operation for loading/unloading when required
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, hazard awareness, and adherence to traffic laws
