We're looking for an Operations Assistant who is organized, dependable, eager to learn, and excited about becoming an important part of a growing business.
This is not simply an administrative assistant position. Our goal is to hire someone who wants to grow with our company and eventually become our Operations/HR Coordinator as EZEmploy continues to expand.

Position Overview
The Operations Assistant will support the daily operations of EZEmploy with an initial emphasis on payroll administration, bookkeeping, client support, and business operations.
Initially, this position will average approximately 25 hours per week while training. As your knowledge, proficiency, and responsibilities grow, we anticipate the position expanding into a full-time career with additional responsibilities in operations, client management, and business development.
This is a position for someone looking to build a long-term career—not simply work a part-time job.
Primary Responsibilities
Payroll & Bookkeeping (20-30%)
- Process payroll
- Import payroll data into QuickBooks
- Maintain bookkeeping records
- Enter bills and invoices
- Process accounts payable
- Assist with bank reconciliations
- Generate payroll and financial reports
- Complete weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reporting requirements
- Maintain accurate payroll and financial records
Client Service (20-30%)
- Professionally answer client phone calls and emails
- Respond to routine client questions
- Escalate more complex matters when appropriate
- Schedule meetings
- Build positive client relationships
- Assist clients with payroll and HR software questions
Operations & Compliance (20-30%)
- Assist with onboarding new clients
- Learn and administer payroll and HR software platforms
- Prepare reports and documentation
- Assist with HR compliance projects
- Learn workplace safety, food safety, and social compliance standards
- Support consulting projects and client audits
Business Development (20-30%)
As your knowledge and confidence grow, you'll also assist with:
- Following up with prospective clients
- Attending networking events
- Assisting with new client onboarding
- Preparing proposals and implementation documents
- Building relationships with prospective clients
Employees who personally refer new clients that become EZEmploy clients will receive a Client Acquisition Bonus.
Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:
- QuickBooks experience
- Bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Payroll experience
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
Experience in HR or compliance is helpful but not required. We are willing to invest significant time training the right person who demonstrates integrity, initiative, and a genuine desire to learn.
Training & Work Environment
This position is intentionally designed to grow as you grow.
Phase 1 – Hands-On Training
Training will take place from the owner's home office in Conejos County.
You'll work directly alongside the owner learning payroll administration, bookkeeping, QuickBooks, HR software, client communication, compliance consulting, and daily business operations.
This phase is designed to provide one-on-one mentoring and build the knowledge necessary for long-term success.
Phase 2 – Increased Independence
As you demonstrate proficiency, accuracy, and the ability to independently manage responsibilities, you'll assume ownership of many day-to-day operational tasks.
Depending on business needs, job performance, and the nature of assigned work, hybrid work opportunities may become available.
Phase 3 – Long-Term Growth
EZEmploy intends to establish a dedicated office location as the company continues to expand.
Our long-term vision is for this position to evolve into an Operations/HR Coordinator role responsible for helping oversee daily operations, training future employees, supporting client growth, and becoming a key member of our leadership team. Depending on business needs, job performance, and the nature of assigned work, hybrid work opportunities may still be available.
Compensation
Starting wage: $17.00 per hour
After 90 days, employees demonstrating satisfactory performance will be eligible for an increase to $18.00 per hour.
After 6 months, employees who continue to meet performance expectations will be eligible for an increase to $19.00 per hour.
Future compensation increases will be based on continued performance, increased responsibilities, and the continued growth of EZEmploy.
