CENTER FOR DOMESTIC PEACE addresses domestic violence at every level in Marin County through crisis response, survivor support, prevention, and systems change. Founded in 1977, Center for Domestic Peace (C4DP) is at the forefront of the movement to end domestic violence in Marin, championing systemic change and empowering survivors through comprehensive support and community education. C4DP works to ensure he safety and well-being of victims and survivors of domestic violence, promote accountability for those who cause harm, and foster prevention through collaborative community efforts. Its programs include a 24-hour hotline; emergency shelter and transitional housing; legal systems advocacy; therapy and support groups; youth and school-based prevention programs; community education and trainings; programs that support accountability and nonviolent behaviors; and long-term healing services rooted in dignity.
POSITION OVERVIEW: Center for Domestic Peace (C4DP) is committed to creating safe, healthy communities through prevention, education, and early intervention. The Champion Men's Zone Facilitator leads prevention and leadership development groups for high school-aged young men within Marin County school districts. Through mentoring, education, and facilitated discussion, the Facilitator helps participants develop healthy relationship skills, emotional intelligence, leadership abilities, accountability, and positive concepts of masculinity. The Facilitator serves as a trusted adult mentor and positive role model while promoting violence prevention, healthy decision-making, and social-emotional growth. This position works closely with school staff and students to create engaging opportunities for young men to build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills. Wednesday and/or Friday afternoon availability is required.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
These are the core functions of the job. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
1. Recruit youth and facilitate Champion Men's Zone groups at assigned high school campuses.
2. Lead discussions and activities focused on healthy masculinity, emotional intelligence, leadership,
communication, consent, respect, accountability, and violence prevention.
3. Implement Champion Men’s Zone curriculum and program activities with fidelity while adapting facilitation to meet student needs.
4. Create engaging, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environments.
5. Foster meaningful participation and peer-to-peer support among students.
6. Build positive and supportive relationships with participating young men.
7. Serve as a mentor and role model.
8. Encourage leadership development, personal growth, and healthy decision-making.
9. Support participant recruitment, engagement, and retention.
10. Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, teachers, and support staff.
11. Represent C4DP professionally within school and community settings.
12. Support program outreach and engagement efforts within partner school districts.
13. Maintain attendance and participation records.
14. Complete required program documentation and reporting.
15. Participate in supervision, team meetings, and training activities.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
1. Equivalent combination of education and experience in education, social work, psychology, counseling,
public health, youth development, or a related field.
2. Minimum two years of experience working directly with adolescent or young adult men.
3. Experience facilitating groups, workshops, mentoring programs, athletic programs, youth leadership initiatives, or educational activities.
4. Demonstrated ability to engage and build rapport with male-identifying youth.
5. Knowledge of adolescent development and youth engagement strategies.
6. Understanding of healthy masculinity, healthy relationships, and violence prevention principles.
7. Strong facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
8. Ability to establish trust and credibility with young men from diverse backgrounds.
9. Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and equity-centered practices.
10. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
11. Ability to complete mandated reporter training and comply with all C4DP, school district, and youth safety protocols.
12. Ability to pass required background check, fingerprinting, and other clearances required for work with youth in school settings.
13. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle student and program information appropriately.
14. Ability to respond appropriately to student disclosures of harm, violence, or abuse and follow C4DP and school reporting protocols.
Preferred:
1. Experience working in school-based programs.
2. Experience in mentoring or leadership development programs for young men.
3. Bilingual Spanish/English and bicultural skills.
4. Associate degree or bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, counseling, public health, youth development, or a related field.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Up to 8-16 hours per week.
- Wednesday and/or Friday afternoon availability required.
- Travel throughout Marin County is required; reliable transportation, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of insurance are required if driving on behalf of C4DP.
- Occasional evening or school-related events may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Candidates must be able to lift to 30 pounds.
2. Ability to move within the office environment and ability to climb stairs.
3. Ability to write by hand and use a keyboard to perform general office functions.
4. Ability to communicate continuously by speech and hearing.
5. Visual acuity (close, distant, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus and view accurate color perception and objects at near distances) needed for detail work and computer use.
6. Ability to sit for extended periods of time
