Duties
- Perform comprehensive smog checks on standard passenger cars to ensure compliance with local emissions regulations.
- Conduct routine vehicle oil changes, tire rotations, and other preventive maintenance services using hand tools and power tools.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues, including brake systems, suspension components, and electrical systems, identifying necessary repairs or replacements.
- Assist customers by explaining vehicle conditions, recommended repairs, and auto estimating procedures to promote transparency and trust.
- Utilize automotive parts and accessories knowledge to recommend suitable replacements or upgrades during service visits.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify mechanical systems repair needs and ensure safety standards are met.
- Perform automotive electrical system diagnostics and basic auto body repair tasks when needed, supporting overall vehicle restoration efforts.
Requirements
- Prior experience operating standard passenger cars and familiarity with automotive mechanical systems.
- Mechanical knowledge including vehicle maintenance procedures, auto parts identification, and repair techniques.
- Ability to change tires using hand tools and power tools efficiently and safely.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly about vehicle conditions and repair options.
- Experience with auto estimating software or processes is a plus but not required.
- Capable of heavy lifting and performing physical tasks associated with automotive service work.
- Mechanic experience or background in automotive repair is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of automotive electrical systems, auto body repair, auto restoration, and general automotive service practices is advantageous.
