I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs a variety of clinical and clerical duties to assist the dentist.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Essential: standing, sitting, walking, stoop/bending, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting and carrying usual weight up to 5 pounds, pushing/pulling usual weight of 25 pounds, carrying usual weight of 2 pounds, reaching above, at, and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.
- Occasional: lifting weight up to 20 pounds, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, pushing/pulling weight up to 50 pounds.
- Operates dental equipment, medical equipment and office equipment.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
- Exposed to noise/vibration from dental equipment, x-rays, cleaning agents, chemicals, communicable diseases, body fluids and sharps.
- Works in a static position for prolonged periods with repetitive hand/arm motion.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- Completion of approved Dental Assistant training program or equivalent work experience.
- Current certification in BLS/HCP.
- CDA certification preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
- Experience to demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with computers and automated systems.
- Prior work experience as Dental Assistant preferred.
