American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/PCU unit position requiring 2+ years of current stepdown experience and a KY or compact RN license.

Work in a 34-bed Stepdown/PCU unit
-
Patient ratio of 1:5
-
Uses Meditech EMR
-
Night shift schedule with rotating 3x12 and 4x12 shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
-
Works an 84-hour, two-week rotating schedule (one week of 3x12, next week of 4x12)
-
Float required within scope of practice
-
Every other weekend required
-
Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated

Active KY or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
-
NIHSS certification required
-
AVADE Level I & II certification preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of current stepdown/PCU nursing experience required
-
3-6 months of Level IV Trauma or above experience preferred
-
Meditech charting experience preferred
-
Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
-
Skills in central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management required
-
Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care required
-
Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, post-TPA care, and seizure disorders required
-
Wound care/wound vac experience required
-
Cardiac drip management experience required
-
Valid driver's license required with address matching permanent address

Two professional references required, including one Charge nurse or higher and one supervisor reference, both completed within the last year

Provide care to stepdown/PCU patients including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and renal cases

Manage cardiac monitoring and respond to dysrhythmias
-
Administer medications including heparin protocols, PCA, and epidural analgesia
-
Perform wound care and manage surgical drains
-
Orientation is conducted bi-weekly
-
Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted

Up to 7 days of RTO will be considered and must be submitted upfront with no changes accepted
-
Must work either a major or minor holiday for every holiday
-
Travelers who have completed one year in the system must take a minimum 6-month break before returning
-
Travel pairs are accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
-
First-time travelers may be considered depending on relevant Level IV or above experience
