The Benefits & HRIS Generalist administers and oversees the Credit Union's employee benefits, Human Resources Information System (HRIS), payroll administration, and HR operations. This role ensures accurate and compliant administration of employee benefit programs, payroll processes, HRIS configuration, personnel records, and employment-related compliance while supporting organizational initiatives and strategic goals.
The Benefits & HRIS Generalist serves as the primary administrator for employee benefits and HRIS, partnering with internal departments and external vendors to ensure efficient processes, regulatory compliance, and exceptional employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle. Base Pay: This position has a salary range of $82,553.00 (minimum) to $123,829.00 (maximum), with a midpoint of $103,191.00. Starting pay is offered based upon an applicant’s experience and education relevant to the position.

Paid Time Off: All Verity employees receive 11 paid holidays and 3 paid floating holidays per year, as well as paid time off (PTO is combined vacation and sick leave.) PTO starts accruing immediately at a rate of 20 days per year.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
HRIS Administration & Systems Management

Serves as the primary administrator of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring the integrity, accuracy, security, and maintenance of employee records and system data.

Leads the configuration, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of HRIS functionality to support organizational needs and business processes.

Manages the configuration, testing, implementation, and annual project launch of the UKG Performance Management module, including workflows, forms, review cycles, communications, and system enhancements.

Maintains internal HR databases, tables, workflows, document retention processes, user permissions, security roles, and system configurations.

Develops, maintains, and distributes custom reports, dashboards, analytics, and HR metrics to support business decisions and organizational planning.

Performs employee data updates and completes HR service requests, including workflow configuration, organizational changes, security updates, reporting, and other system enhancements.

Assists with software and hardware requirements related to HR technology and recommends enhancements based on changing business needs.

Supports the technological aspects of employee recordkeeping, database management, system performance, user administration, document retention, compliance monitoring, and system security.

Assists in the preparation of HR systems training materials and provides HRIS training to managers and employees.

Identifies opportunities to automate processes, improve efficiencies, and optimize HR technology solutions.
Benefits Administration

Serves as the lead administrator for all employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, COBRA, life insurance, disability insurance, flexible spending accounts (FSA), workers' compensation, retirement plans (401(k)), and related benefit programs.

Administers benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations, open enrollment, vendor communications, reconciliations, and ongoing benefit administration.
-
Consults with employees regarding benefit eligibility, enrollment options, and available programs while providing exceptional customer service.

Recommends enhancements and improvements to benefit programs based on employee needs, organizational objectives, market trends, and regulatory requirements.

Maintains organizational medical billing records and processes monthly medical billing accurately and timely.

Coordinates disability and workers' compensation claims in partnership with employees, managers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
Payroll Administration

Manages payroll administration in partnership with the Accounting Department to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

Maintains payroll-related employee records, deductions, earnings, tax information, benefit deductions, and other payroll data.

Ensures payroll practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.

Identifies payroll risks and recommends process improvements to strengthen controls and accuracy.
Employee Lifecycle Administration

Coordinates and administers the onboarding process, preparing onboarding materials in the HRIS, and completing employment I-9 documentation

Conducts new employee orientation sessions covering employee benefits, HR policies, Employee Handbook provisions, and organizational practices.

Prepares and updates orientation materials, onboarding resources, and employment documentation.
-
Manages the offboarding process, including termination documentation, exit procedures, equipment collection, required notices, and exit interviews.
-
Maintains confidential personnel files in accordance with organizational standards and legal record retention requirements.

Maintains new hire, transfer, promotion, and termination records.
-
Maintains Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) logs and prepares annual EEO-1, veteran, and other required regulatory reports.

Assists employees and managers with employment documentation and effective use of HRIS and payroll systems.
Compliance & Employment Administration

Ensures organizational compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, COBRA, EEOC, OSHA, workers' compensation, wage and hour laws, leave administration, and related employment requirements.

Monitors changes in employment legislation and recommends updates to policies, procedures, and practices to maintain compliance.

Participates in internal audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory examinations.

Administers the NMLS program.

Maintains and updates Human Resources policies, procedures, and documentation to reflect organizational changes, employment law updates, and best practices.
Training & Employee Experience

Prepares and delivers Human Resources training programs for employees and leaders on HR policies, procedures, systems, compliance topics, and employee programs.

Supports employee engagement initiatives, onboarding experiences, and HR communication efforts.

Collaborates with managers and employees to provide guidance regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and employment-related questions.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

Completes departmental projects as assigned, including research, analysis, implementation planning, and documentation.

Troubleshoots and resolves internal and external Human Resources inquiries.

Participates in departmental strategic initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

Identifies opportunities to improve HR operations, technology, reporting, and employee service delivery.

Collaborates with internal departments and external vendors to support organizational initiatives and operational excellence.
Regulatory Responsibilities

Complies with all Credit Union policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements, USA PATRIOT Act, and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations.

Completes all required annual and role-specific compliance training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience with an emphasis in benefits administration, HRIS administration, payroll, and HR operations.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience administering Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS); UKG experience preferred.
-
Experience administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance, COBRA, retirement plans, disability, leave administration, and workers' compensation.
-
Experience partnering in payroll administration and applying federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
-
Experience preparing regulatory reports, audits, and employment compliance documentation.

Experience leading HR systems implementations, configurations, or process improvement initiatives preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
- Experience working in a Credit Union / Financial institution or other highly regulated industry preferred.
- Experience with UKG HRIS and Payroll preferred.
- Familiarity with credit union philosophy, operations, and regulatory requirements preferred.
- Benefits Administration: Applies advanced knowledge of employee benefit programs to independently administer benefits, advise employees and leaders on eligibility and program options, ensure regulatory compliance, coordinate with vendors, resolve complex issues, and recommend enhancements that improve the employee experience and organizational effectiveness.
- HRIS & Systems Administration: Leverages advanced proficiency in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) to maintain data integrity, configure workflows and system functionality, develop reports and analytics, manage security and user access, support system enhancements, and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through technology.
- Employment Law & Regulatory Compliance: Interprets and applies advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance, mitigate risk, recommend policy and procedural improvements, and provide guidance to leaders and employees on complex Human Resources matters.
- Payroll Administration: Utilizes strong working knowledge of payroll administration to ensure accurate employee data, support compliant payroll processes, interpret applicable wage and hour laws, resolve payroll related issues, and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders to maintain payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Data Analysis & Reporting Analyzes: Validates and interprets Human Resources data to develop meaningful reports and insights that support regulatory reporting, workforce planning, compliance monitoring, operational decision making, and continuous process improvement while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Project & Process Management: Effectively plans, prioritizes, coordinates, and executes multiple Human Resources projects and initiatives by managing competing priorities, conducting research and analysis, implementing process improvements, meeting established deadlines, and driving operational excellence.
