POSITION SUMMARY:
The Biomedical Technician is responsible for ensuring that the operation, condition, maintenance, and repair of all water treatment equipment, dialysis equipment, mechanical, and electrical systems (to ensure the safety of the patients and staff operating the equipment). He or she reports to the Biomedical Director.
Qualifications
- Candidate must possess an associate’s degree in electronics or electrical engineering, or two years working experience and certification in biomedical equipment maintenance and repair, particularly dialysis equipment and systems.
- Candidate must maintain 5 CEU’s annually.
- Candidate must have a complete working knowledge of the mechanical area, and operational knowledge of the technical mechanics of dialysis.
- Candidate must have knowledge and proficiency in the initiation and shut down of all equipment in the facility.
- Candidate has a comprehensive knowledge of the function and safe operation of back-up water treatment equipment, and related mechanical and electrical systems.
- Candidate must be able to read, write, and maintain simple records in the English language.
- Candidate must have a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
- Candidate must be physically able to lift at least 65 lbs. from floor level (using proper body mechanics).
- Candidate must have a clear and safe driving record in the State of Texas.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain prompt service call schedule.
- Understand the facility Driver & Fleet Safety processes.
- Train new technical staff (as requested by Biomedical Director).
- Assist the biomedical director in maintaining adequate inventory levels.
- Maintain current up-to-date flow diagrams (or written back-up procedures) for the facility's water treatment system, using guidelines established in the Technical Policy and Standards Manual.
- Comply with facility operation of equipment protocol, and in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations.
- Comply with the facility preventive maintenance program, including support documentation for all water treatment equipment, medical equipment, and related mechanical and electrical systems.
- Comply with all requirements and applicable sections of the Technical Policy and Standards Manual.
- Provide training in-services to other technical staff.
- Comply with facility vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repairs protocols.
- Responsible for the damage or loss of company property.
- Maintain current knowledge regarding AAMI standards and other regulatory state and federal guidelines.
- Undergo competency exams and skills competency check off annually.
- All other duties as assigned by Biomedical Director

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
