Filling Machine Operator
Stearns Packaging Corporation has an opening for a first shift ( 7 am-4 pm M-TH, 7 am-1pm FRI) Powder Filling Machine Operator in Madison, Wisconsin. This is a direct-hire, full-time position with full benefits. Operator must be a calm, focused and mature individual. No experience necessary, but the candidate must be able to learn quickly and pay attention to detail and productivity. Mechanical understanding is helpful. Understanding a barcode scanner is important.
Position Summary: The Machine Operator is responsible for the mechanical filling of powder packets soaps and detergents.
Duties & Responsibilities: Adjust machine to fit production run accurately filling the packets with the correct amount of product. Monitor the filling process to ensure quality and consistency of the production run. Count and scan inventory and log into computer system. Clean and maintain the machine so that it is ready for the next product run. Tape or seal cases and palletize. Move pallets to the shipping department. Candidate must be willing to climb a stool and steps in an industrial area. Must be willing to use their hands to turn metal cranks with force and manipulate metal fillers adjust product flow as well as to do routine maintenance. Candidate must be willing to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 8 to 12 pounds throughout the day.
Other duties include putting labels on bottles and pails by hand. Help with filling liquids in other production areas when the production schedule requires.
