The St. Paul’s Community Development Corporation (SPCDC) AmeriCorps Program is seeking passionate, social justice oriented candidates for its 2026-2027 program year.
AmeriCorps Members dedicate approximately one year of their life to serve communities throughout the United States that are in need of support. For this year of service, members earn a living stipend and education award.
SPCDC AmeriCorps Members serve in all aspects of the agency's work, as well as with partner agencies located throughout Paterson and Passaic County, NJ. Duties range from working as aides in local food pantries, as case management support in homeless shelters, and as classroom support in after school and summer programs.
Full-Time (FT) members must complete 1700 service hours by the date stipulated.

2026-2027 SPCDC AmeriCorps Opportunities:
In partnership with City Relief, we are seeking a Full-Time AmeriCorps Aide for the Volunteer Services Team.
Goal of the Project:
The goal of this project is to strengthen City Relief's ability to serve guests effectively by improving coordination between Outreach and Volunteer onboarding/Day-of-Training, enhancing effectiveness of training, and building sustainable processes that support long-term program success and volunteer engagement.
The aide will gain an understanding of City Relief's service model and how Outreach, Volunteer Department, Guest Services, and Warehouse teams works together to meet the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. As they engage directly with guests through outreach activities, the member will help connect community members to resources and services while gaining firsthand knowledge of operational challenges and opportunities for improvement.
The aide will focus on strengthening systems that support guest care. this includes learning volunteer recruitment, volunteer engagement, and project management tools such as Asana to identify efficiencies, improve communication between departments, and support the consistent distribution of resources. Working alongside staff, the aide will hep evaluate current volunteer training processes, recommend improvements, and develop resources and documentation that increase volunteer effectiveness.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills - Able to build relationships and engage effectively with diverse groups of people, including City Relief's volunteers, staff, and neighbors experiencing homelessness preferably in Spanish and English.
- Organizational and Time Management Skills - Demonstrates reliability in managing multiple tasks, maintaining schedules, taking initiative, and following through on tasks with consistency.
- A Collaborative and Adaptable Mindset - Willing to learn, give and receive constructive feedback with humility and courage, and support the team in a variety of settings, including administrative tasks and hands-on outreach work at outdoor sites. Must be comfortable working outside in varying weather conditions as part of regular outreach responsibilities.
- Comfortable with Technology and Digital Tools - Willingness to learn and use digital tools like volunteer management software, Google Suite of Apps, Canva, and Asana.
- Commitment to Serving Vulnerable Populations with Dignity and Compassion - Alignment with City Relief's mission and a desire to make a meaningful impact through volunteer engagement & service.
