The City of Bozeman is excited to announce a new full-time Recreation Leader position (30 hours per week). The Recreation Leader brings energy and creativity to plan, coordinate, and implement engaging recreation programs, activities, and events that bring people of all ages and abilities together. This position works directly with participants and their families, supports program instructors, and helps ensure programs are safe, inclusive, and enjoyable for the community.

Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Non-Exempt
Work Week: 30 hours per week.
Schedule 1: Sunday – Thursday, 3:00pm – 9:00pm
Schedule 2: Monday - Friday, 8:30am – 2:30pm
Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)-
Develops, organizes, and leads a wide variety of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, games, classes, sports, camps, and special events for the general public.

Interacts with parents, participants, public and other City of Bozeman employees.

Collects fees for open gym sessions.

Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies.

Maintains attendance records.

Ensures the safety of all participants within an assigned recreation program, including maintaining the cleanliness and organization of equipment, materials, and facilities, performing minor equipment repair when necessary, and completing accident and incident reports.

Provides guidance and support to participants of various ages by enforcing rules and managing behavior.

Plans, organizes, coordinates, implements, evaluates, and promotes recreation programs within assigned areas, including preparing lesson plans and gathering necessary materials and equipment.

Performs cleaning duties including mopping, vacuuming, washing, disinfecting, and putting away supplies.

Conducts recreation facility checks to include cleaning, inspecting for and reporting damage to Supervisor.

Utilizes City vehicles to transport equipment and supplies to City parks and facilities for camps and events.

Markets and promotes recreation activities through presentations and outreach to community groups, and responding to requests for information from the public.

Provides needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees in the same or similar class of positions.

Administers first aid, CPR, and use of AED as needed.

Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.

Attends meetings, conferences, workshops and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on the principles, practices and new developments in assigned work areas.

Responds to citizens’ questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.

Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.
