Assistant Manager — Camp Bow Wow
$38,000–$48,000/year · Full-Time · San Antonio area
Run the shift. Build the team. Back up the boss.
If you've managed a restaurant, hotel, retail store, or service business and you're ready to step up into real leadership — not just task work — we should talk. You're the Manager's right hand and the person in charge when they're not on the floor.
Camp Bow Wow is the country's largest doggy daycare and boarding franchise. We operate six locations across South and Central Texas, and we're looking for an Assistant Manager to help run one: the team, the standards, and the experience every pet parent walks away with.
The role
You report to the Camp Manager and supervise Team Leads and Camp Counselors, running daily operations and owning your assigned areas. We run on clarity, consistency, and accountability. You'll know exactly what good looks like, your team will know it because you set the example, and you'll hold the line when it counts.
What's yours to run: daily operations and shift coverage, staff supervision and training, scheduling and attendance, customer service and escalations, safety and cleanliness, and full compliance with Camp Bow Wow policies and procedures. You'll keep daily checklists, kennel and boarding cards, medication logs, and vaccination records accurate and complete — and conduct new camper interviews to keep play groups safe. When the Manager is off the floor, the location is yours.
Be a hands-on leader. Camp Counselors work with you, not for you. You lead by example, on the floor, in the work.
The non-negotiables
Read these carefully. If any are a dealbreaker, this isn't the right role.
- This is a physical operation: cleaning, bending, standing for long periods, lifting up to 40 lbs. Everyone helps where help is needed.
- Adhere to all written and oral standards, policies, and procedures — these are the essential functions of the job.
- Safety and cleanliness come first, every shift.
- Be punctual, present, and lead by example. No facial jewelry while on shift.
- No guaranteed location — you may be assigned to another local location for the needs of the business.
- Typical shifts are 6:30 AM–3:30 PM or 10:00 AM–7:00 PM, depending on coverage.
- Full-time, 45 hours per week. Days, shifts, and weekends rotate based on facility needs — including alternating weekend days and every other holiday — set on a repeating two-week cycle.
What we're looking for
- 1+ years of management or supervisory experience is a plus — restaurant, hotel, retail, or service all translate well
- A track record of holding standards, developing people, and running a clean, accountable shift
- Comfort with scheduling, attendance, and day-to-day operations
- Strong customer service instincts and the judgment to de-escalate and problem-solve
- Experience with dogs or animals is a plus, not a requirement — we'll train the dog side; we're hiring for leadership
- Physical stamina for an active, on-your-feet operation
