Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning, and consulting for a diverse portfolio of clients including high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts and estates, passthroughs, corporations, nonprofits, and real estate and construction businesses. The Tax Manager will supervise and mentor a team, manage complex returns and tax provisions (ASC 740), support M&A and due diligence, coordinate SALT and international matters, implement tax technology and automation, and deliver high-quality client service and tax planning solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and review federal, state and local tax compliance for individuals (1040), estates and trusts (1041, 706, 709), partnerships (1065), S corporations (1120S) and C corporations (1120).

Provide tax planning and advisory services for high-net-worth individuals (HNW/HNWI), trusts, estates and family offices, including gift, fiduciary and estate tax planning.

Oversee tax provision (ASC 740) preparation and review, ensuring GAAP/IFRS tax accounting coordination with finance and audit teams.

Lead tax due diligence and M&A tax structuring, including transaction modeling, tax risk assessment and integration support.

Manage State & Local Tax (SALT) matters, nexus and apportionment studies, and sales & use tax exposure assessments.

Coordinate international tax and cross-border matters, including treaty analysis, BEPS considerations, transfer pricing, FATCA/CRS/FBAR and withholding obligations.

Advise on indirect tax (VAT/GST) and payroll/withholding tax issues as applicable to clients.

Supervise, train and mentor senior tax staff and managers; assign work, conduct reviews and support professional development (Senior Tax Manager/Tax Supervisor mentorship).

Perform advanced tax research and technical analysis to support client positions, controversy and audit responses.

Implement and optimize tax software and automation (ONESOURCE, CCH, Vertex, CorpTax, Oracle), ERP integrations (SAP) and data tools (Alteryx, Power Query, SQL) to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Prepare and present clear client deliverables and executive summaries; build and maintain strong client relationships and participate in business development.

Ensure high quality control over tax returns and filings, leveraging checklists and peer review processes for accuracy and compliance.

Collaborate with accounting and finance teams on tax accounting, tax provisioning and financial reporting deadlines.

Identify incentives and credits (R&D tax credits & incentives) and lead claims or planning to maximize client benefits.
Qualifications

CPA required; EA, JD or LLM strongly preferred.

Minimum 610 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or professional services, with demonstrated work on high-net-worth individuals, trusts & estates, partnerships and corporate clients.

Proven experience preparing and reviewing 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, 709, 1041 and estate (706) filings.

Strong knowledge of tax compliance and planning for passthrough entities, S-Corp, C-Corp, partnership tax and individual tax matters.

Experience with tax provision (ASC 740), tax accounting (GAAP/IFRS) and coordination with external auditors.

Familiarity with SALT, international tax, transfer pricing, BEPS/OECD guidelines, VAT/GST, FATCA/CRS/FBAR and payroll/withholding tax issues.

Experience with tax research, controversy and audit support, nexus and apportionment analyses.

Proficiency with tax technology and data tools such as ONESOURCE, CCH, Vertex, CorpTax, Oracle, advanced Excel & VBA, Alteryx/Power Query and SQL.

Experience implementing ERP integrations (SAP preferred) and improving tax processes through automation.

Excellent leadership, project management and client-facing communication skills; ability to mentor and develop staff.

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required; Masters in Tax, JD or LLM a plus.

Track record of professional integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
