Primary Duties
Laboratory Coordination - Coordinates and proactively collaborates with faculty regarding course lab/simulation needs.
Evaluation Criteria:
1. Responsible for skills and simulation lab experiences.
a. Setup/Tear Down: equipment for classroom, skills labs, practice sessions, and simulations
b. Participation: assist with formative and summative simulations 2. Assists the Simulation Educator.
3. Maintains laboratory/simulation rooms, equipment, and inventory.
4. Manages the daily operation of the simulation AV/Computer equipment.
5. Maintains current documentation of laboratory/simulation needs.
6. Promotes safe laboratory practices according to OSHA guidelines.
7. Follows guidelines in handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
Management/Leadership - Manages work-study students to provide efficient and effective PSL operations. Is actively engaged in Department of Nursing meetings and committees.
Evaluation Criteria:
1. Establishes contacts and liaisons with equipment and supplies vendors for pricing and potential laboratory equipment donation.
2. Attends and votes at department meetings and serves on department committee(s).
3. Recruits, interviews, and hires work-study students in consultation with faculty and the Simulation Educator.
4. Directly supervises work-study students, including scheduling, assignments, and evaluations.
5. Budget:
a. Assists the Simulation Educator with the development of the annual budget for the PSL.
b. Manages purchasing PSL supplies in collaboration with the Simulation Educator and Assistant Dean of Nursing.
6. Supports partnership development with local laboratory/simulation leaders in higher education.
Technology - Facilitates seamless operation of multiple technologies in PSL labs.
Evaluation Criteria:
1. Assists with audiovisual recording of simulation experiences.
2. Troubleshoots simulators, software, and equipment.
3. Assists with the care and maintenance of lab and simulation equipment.
4. Reports missing or damaged equipment and supplies to the Simulation Educator.
5. Assists Simulation Educator with scenario development and computer programming.
Secondary Duties
Professional Development - Maintains active engagement in ongoing professional development.
Evaluation Criteria:
1. Obtains 6-8 contact hours of continuing education in simulation every two years.
2. Stays up to date with new techniques, procedures, and equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
