Summer Lifeguard – Camp Wightman
Location: Griswold, CT | Schedule: Through end of August 2026 | Job Type: Seasonal, Full-Time
For over a century, Camp Wightman has been a place where kids and families experience love, dignity, belonging, and sanctuary on 200+ acres along Billings Lake. Rooted in the Christian tradition, we run a year-round camp and retreat ministry — and our summer season is where it all comes alive. We're looking for a Lifeguard to join our team to help keep that experience safe, fun, and unforgettable.
What you'll do
- Supervise swim periods, free swim, and waterfront activities for campers and staff
- Monitor water conditions and enforce waterfront safety protocols
- Respond to emergencies and administer first aid/CPR as needed
- Maintain lifeguard equipment and waterfront area
- Work alongside our Waterfront Director and program staff to deliver a safe, fun camper experience
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification including Deep Water (7 ft+), with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid
- Current American Red Cross Waterfront Skills Module certification (required in addition to Lifeguarding — not valid on its own)
- Must hold all required certifications before start date — we're unable to sponsor certification this season
- Strong swimmer, comfortable in open water (lake) environments
- Positive, patient presence with kids and teens
- Successful completion of a background check required
Compensation & Perks
- Hourly or weekly rate, competitive based on experience and certification level
- On-site housing and meals available if desired
- Work on 200+ beautiful acres along Billings Lake

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
