The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is actively seeking a Custodial Supervisor.

This is service-maintenance work at the supervisor level in the general cleaning and housekeeping of community and senior centers and grounds. Work requires knowledge of the techniques, methods and procedures used in custodial work for senior centers/community centers which is learned on the job or through specialized training. Schedules, trains, assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned staff. Contacts require skills in understanding and influencing people to obtain desired results. The work is semi-routine in that tasks are covered by procedures or precedents, but some latitude is permitted to consider the most appropriate method, technique, or procedure to follow. The work is performed indoors and outdoors. Operates hand tools, power tools and cleaning equipment, motor vehicle, cargo van, lift truck and standard office equipment such as personal computers using word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other related software, peripheral and electronic devices, copiers, and calculators. The physical demands consist of walking, standing, sitting, bending, climbing, and exposure to dust, dirt and other unpleasant conditions, and occasionally moving and lifting materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are varied and, although subject to standard practices and procedures, the worker is permitted some latitude to set own priorities subject to superior’s approval.
- Two years of education and/or experience in general cleaning and housekeeping of buildings and facilities with a minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:-
A valid driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained.

Must qualify for prior to appointment, obtain, and maintain a City of Jacksonville Certification as a Public Driver.

CPR and First Aid Certification is required within six months of appointment and must be maintained.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:-
The probationary period for this class is twelve (12) months.

Pursuant to the provisions of Article 39.4 of the Jacksonville Supervisors Association Collective Bargaining Agreement, this classification will be filled by the Rule of Three.

Must pass background screening on a local, state and federal level as required by the State of Florida Children and Family Services or Elder Affairs. This classification performs safety-sensitive functions and is subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing programs as set forth in the City of Jacksonville’s Drug Free Workplace Policy (Directive 0401).
