The job of Dietitian is done for the purpose/s of analyzing school menus to meet current federal guidelines, planning and develops menus for students with special dietary needs, collecting nutrition information from vendors, entering and maintaining nutrition information and recipes into nutrition services software, assisting in staff training particularly regarding nutrition topics and updates, working with nurses and other departments to accommodate students with special dietary needs, disseminating nutrition education through a variety of methods, participating in the wellness policy committee, and developing specialized marketing programs to provide incentive for students to participate in District nutrition services programs.
Essential Functions

Assists in planning for and presenting at a variety of meetings and trainings (e.g. manager meetings, special workshops, department in-services, etc.) for the purpose of determining agendas, providing information on new directives and giving instructions regarding new menus and recipes.

Collaborates with a variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of acting as a liaison between the nutrition services department and other parties.

Collects nutrition information from vendors and enters it into nutrition services software (e.g. CN labels, product specification sheets, nutrition labels, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that data is accurate and available when needed.

Coordinates nutrition services social media and marketing programs and merchandising of nutritious foods for the purpose of ensuring that programs and initiatives are received well and are completed successfully.

Develops nutrition education programs and trainings for the purpose of ensuring food safety and nutrition awareness is accurate and up-to-date.

Enters recipes used in the school nutrition services program(s) for the purpose of ensuring that data is accurate, up-to-date, and available.

Maintains the nutrition services website and social media accounts for the purpose of updating nutrition information, menus, carbohydrate count calendars, and articles.

Maintains a wide variety of nutrition services information (e.g. nutrition information, pricing, menu plans, legal requirements, discontinued items, etc.) for the purpose of showing options available for meals and nutrition facts.

Oversees and/or participates in committee meetings (e.g. wellness committee, menu committee, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information and providing insights to enhance policy content and adherence.

Performs functions of other nutritional services positions, as needed, for the purpose of ensuring adequate staff coverage within site nutritional services operations.

Plans menus for schools participating in a variety of nutrition services programs (e.g. national school lunch program, national breakfast program, summer feeding program, NSLP, etc.) for the purpose of following the federal guidelines for nutritional values, cost, preparation time, and available foods.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Requirements:

Bachelors degree in job-related area. Preferred Masters degree in job-related area.
