Customer Service Intern
Summary:
The Service Department Customer Service Intern supports the service team by assisting with customer service, administrative tasks, and vehicle intake processes. This role is ideal for students or individuals seeking hands-on experience in the automotive or truck service industry.
Essential Duties:
Handling and routing incoming calls for the branch
Assist in greeting customers and gathering vehicle information upon arrival
Support the preparation of service tickets, including time, cost, and labor estimates
Help document customer concerns clearly on repair orders to aid technicians
Observe and assist with vehicle inspections, including taking photos and videos
Learn to communicate inspection results and repair updates to customers
Shadow service advisors in scheduling appointments and handling inquiries
Help maintain accurate records of service history and repair authorizations
Assist in reviewing and closing repair orders under supervision
Support warranty claims processing and documentation
Maintain a clean and professional workspace
Attend training sessions and team meetings as required
Perform other administrative or support duties as assigned
Gain exposure to customer service best practices in a service environment
Learn how to interpret manufacturer specifications and service requirements
Understand the workflow of a service department, from intake to repair completion
Develop communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced setting
Qualifications:
0-6 months of Customer Service Experienced preferred
High School Diploma/GED equivalent
Must be enrolled in a continued education program
Work Environment:
The work in the service department involves working in an environment with exposure to moving parts, electrical currents, grease, chemicals, dust, dirt, and various weather elements. Candidates must be able to navigate the workspace efficiently and handle physical tasks that require lifting up to 30 pounds for extended periods. Safety protocols are essential to mitigate risks associated with these exposures. This role demands physical stamina and a keen awareness of surroundings to ensure both personal and team safety.
This position involves frequent travel for meetings at various locations. While having a CDL license is advantageous for roles within our Dealership and Leasing Operations, it is not a mandatory requirement. We adhere to DOT regulations to ensure everyone remains compliant and can utilize a CDL license if available. Depending on your role, you may still be required to operate a heavy-duty truck within property restrictions.
