Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school plus 2 years of experience in a food services warehouse operation, or a closely related field, with basic experience or training in receiving, storing and shipping of food and related supplies or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be free from communicable diseases.
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of procedures for ordering food and supplies, accurate receiving skills and knowledge of standard food service storage techniques for all foods, inventory control systems; use and care of all equipment used in receiving, storing and shipping food and related supplies.
Ability to load, unload, drive and maintain a fourteen foot delivery truck.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to interpret requisitions, purchase orders, invoices and other forms used in the food services warehouse operation; ability to maintain records as directed.
Ability to make decisions according to laws and regulations and according to established department policies.
Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees, school staff, suppliers and the general public.
Ability to operate all required food services warehouse equipment including but not limited to a hand jack, hand truck, platform truck and elevator; operates can crusher, operates a telephone and calculator.
Ability to perform physical aspects of position including ability to climb a ladder, lift, stack and re-arrange items weighing up to 50 lbs each, in walk-in freezers, walk-in refrigerators and storerooms. Ability to tolerate from -10°F to 40°F for periods of time up to one-half hour.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Connecticut.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Receives, unpacks, inspects, dates and stores all food and supplies in the proper location in GHS cafeteria warehouse in accordance with USDA and State regulations, Health Department standards and Food Services Department standards and procedures; verifies that the delivery agrees with the original order and that goods have been delivered in an undamaged condition.
Maintains records utilizing proper inventory control procedures of all goods received and shipped; takes an accurate physical inventory of GHS cafeteria warehouse on a monthly basis.
Processes orders sent to GHS cafeteria warehouse for shipment to other schools in the system; loads truck at GHS warehouse according to daily order sheet; delivers all food and supplies as per daily order sheets to assigned sites, returns food handling equipment to point of origin.
Assists in the loading and unloading of goods delivered to GHS cafeteria warehouse; operates delivery truck in a safe and efficient manner; maintains trucks in good working order.
Assists GHS Food Service Manager and cooks, as needed, to pull food items, stock milk coolers and make spot inventory checks on specific items.
Cleans can crusher and kitchen refuse barrels daily; cleans kitchen hoods and range ovens several times yearly.
Ensures that proper sanitary and health standards are maintained for all storerooms, walk-in refrigerators and freezers; rotates all food and supplies, completely clean floors, walls, ceiling and shelves in all storage areas during the summer or as necessary.
Schedules regular maintenance for trucks and ability to recognize necessity for repairs as truck equipment wears out.
Maintains all records as instructed by the Food Services Director or the Food Service Managers, completes forms or comply with directions sent out by the Director’s office or given by the Food Managers, on time and in the proper manner.
Maintains good inter-personal relations in the kitchen and in the school, and good public relations in the community.
Attends staff meetings and in-service training as required.
Assists in washing dishes, pots, pans or equipment; repairing and/or maintaining small kitchen equipment, cash registers, coffee pots, etc., painting, as needed.
Performs related duties as assigned.
