Summary
Associate LPHA (Residential) The Associate Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (Associate LPHA) provides direct clinical services to residential clients under the supervision of a Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA). This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, facilitating individual and group therapy, developing treatment plans, coordinating care, maintaining clinical documentation, and supporting clients throughout the recovery process. The Associate LPHA practices within their scope of registration while adhering to all Beacon House, SAPC, DHCS, CARF, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate process-oriented, psychoeducational, and evidence-based group counseling sessions for clients receiving substance use disorder treatment.
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments utilizing the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria to formulate preliminary level of care recommendations for LPHA review and approval.
Complete telephone screenings and clinical intake interviews with prospective clients to assess presenting concerns, substance use history, biopsychosocial factors, appropriateness for admission, and facilitate referrals when indicated.
Provide a minimum of one (1) individual counseling session per week for all residential clients utilizing evidence-based, trauma-informed, and client-centered therapeutic interventions.
Develop preliminary ASAM assessments, treatment plans, problem lists, Behavioral Wellness Plans, and Safety Plans for LPHA review, approval, and finalization. Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment team members to develop and implement individualized treatment interventions.
Maintain and manage an assigned caseload while ensuring timely documentation, treatment planning, discharge planning, and continuity of care.
Develop, monitor, and update individualized treatment plans based upon assessment findings, client progress, clinical presentation, and medical necessity criteria.
Provide ongoing clinical support, case management, advocacy, and care coordination to promote treatment engagement, retention, and successful outcomes.
Coordinate care with medical providers, psychiatric providers, probation, child welfare agencies, referral sources, and community partners when clinically appropriate.
Review treatment progress with supervising LPHA and participate in clinical consultation regarding clients with co-occurring disorders, elevated clinical needs, or safety concerns.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with agency policy, SAPC, DHCS, CARF, BBS, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2 requirements.
Complete all documentation within established agency timelines. Participate in clinical supervision, treatment team meetings, case consultations, utilization review activities, and interdisciplinary care coordination.
Utilize evidence-based practices including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), relapse prevention, trauma-informed interventions, and other approved therapeutic modalities.
Support clients in identifying recovery goals, strengthening coping skills, improving emotional regulation, developing relapse prevention strategies, and enhancing psychosocial functioning.
Participate in ongoing professional development and complete continuing education requirements established by the BBS and Beacon House.
Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Manager, Clinical Supervisor, or Director of Clinical Services.
Key Performance Metrics

Minimum Qualifications
Licensed or associate clinician (LMFT/AMFT, LCSW/ACSW, LPCC/APCC)
One year minimum experience working in SUD setting.
Familiarity with SAPC, DMC, and HIPAA/CFR 42 regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to details.
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Strong computer skills, to encompass all Microsoft Office applications.
Training and competency in evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Maintain a yearly CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, physical exam, and Tuberculosis test results. Page 3 of 3 Preferred Qualifications
AMFT or ACSW with 1-5 years of working experience
Background working in substance use centers/treatment centers.
Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in a team environment. Education Master’s degree in counseling, social work, marital and family therapy, or related field required. Registered by BBS as AMFT or ACSW or PsyD intern required if unlicensed.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
