Gotham Sound is looking for a new member of our team. The Shipping & Receiving Associate plays a critical role in ensuring our customers receive the right products, on time, and in excellent condition. This position serves as one of the final quality-control checkpoints before equipment leaves our facility and one of the first checkpoints when products arrive.
We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment supporting the television, film, broadcast, live event, and communications industries. Experience with professional audio, video, or communications equipment is helpful but not required.
Responsibilities
Shipping
- Pack sales and rental orders safely, securely, and cost-effectively.
- Generate shipping labels and verify addresses, shipping methods, and delivery requirements.
- Coordinate shipments through FedEx, UPS, USPS, freight carriers, and local couriers.
- Provide shipment tracking information to customers and internal departments.
- Prepare customs documentation and international shipping paperwork.
- Provide shipping quotes and transit estimates when requested.
- Assist customers and internal teams with shipping-related questions, delivery issues, and claims.
- Ensure outgoing shipments are accurate, complete, and properly documented.
Receiving
- Receive incoming shipments from vendors, manufacturers, and customers.
- Verify quantities and inspect products for damage or discrepancies.
- Compare received goods against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Accurately receive inventory into the company inventory management system.
- Communicate receiving discrepancies to purchasing and management.
- Process customer returns, repairs, and vendor returns as directed.
Inventory, Stocking & Organization
- Label incoming inventory, products, and storage locations according to company standards.
- Put away received inventory in the correct warehouse, retail, rental, or service locations.
- Maintain clean, organized, and accurately labeled shelves, bins, and storage areas.
- Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and annual physical inventory.
- Help identify inventory discrepancies and assist in correcting inventory records.
- Ensure products are stocked, organized, and readily available for sales, rental, and service departments.
- Assist with warehouse organization projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Team Support
- Work closely with Sales, Rentals, Service, Purchasing, and Accounting to support customer needs.
- Help maintain an efficient workflow between departments.
- Contribute to a positive team environment focused on customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Prior shipping, receiving, warehouse, inventory, or logistics experience preferred.
- Experience with professional audio, video, communications, or production equipment is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfortable using computers and inventory management systems.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance.
Compensation & Benefits
- Full-time hourly position (40 hours per week)
