We are a small independent optical practice looking for a skilled, patient-centered Optical Assistant or Optician to join our close-knit team. What You'll Do
- Greet and Schedule appointment: Welcome patients, schedule patients in the EMR calendar software, answer and direct phonecalls to the appropriate person.
- Pre-Testing: Perform preliminary testing to support patient care.
- Insurance Billing: Quote insurance co-pays, process eyeglasses and contact lens orders, and submit insurance claims.
- Use EMR software: Input patient data, pull insurance authorizations, and input orders into the EMR accurately.
- Dispense Eyewear: Help patients select and fit frames and lenses that meet their prescription and lifestyle needs.
- Lens & Lab Coordination: Place and track lens orders with optical labs, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery.
- Frame Adjustments & Repairs: Perform adjustments, repairs, and troubleshooting to ensure patient satisfaction with their eyewear.
- Optical Measurements: Take accurate measurements including PD, seg heights, vertex distance, and pantoscopic tilt.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and proper eyewear care, make recommendations based on their prescription needs and preferences.
- Inventory Support: Assist with frame inventory, receiving orders, and maintaining a well-organized dispensary.
- Support Office: Support general office operations and help keep a clean office environment.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with optometrists and front desk staff to ensure a seamless patient experience.
What We're Looking For
- 6 months+ of dispensing experience in an optical or optometry setting helpful
- Previous Retail or Healthcare experience if no prior optometry experience
- Able to communicate verbally and write emails at minimum High School level
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Warm, professional communication style with patients and colleagues
- Comfortable working in a small, independent practice environment
- Must be available Weekdays and half-day Saturdays

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
