Enka-Candler Fire & Rescue is seeking motivated, professional, and service-oriented individuals to join our team as Full-Time Firefighter/EMTs. Starting Salary
$61,568 annually
Position Overview
Firefighter/EMTs are responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency incidents while providing fire suppression, emergency medical care, rescue operations, and public service. Members are expected to work as part of a highly trained team dedicated to protecting life and property.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Structural firefighting utilizing aggressive fire attack strategies
- Emergency medical response and patient care
- Motor vehicle accident response and extrication
- Trench rescue operations
- Wildland firefighting
- Swift water rescue response
- Fire prevention and public education
- Station maintenance and daily operational duties
- Apparatus and equipment inspection, maintenance, and testing
- Community assistance and public service initiatives
- Participation in training, drills, and continuing education
- Responding to additional rescue and emergency incidents as assigned
- Performing all other duties expected of a professional firefighter
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Hold a current North Carolina EMT certification through NCOEMS or National Registry (NREMT)
- Hold Firefighter II certification meeting NFPA 1001 standards through IFSAC or Pro Board
- Hold North Carolina Hazardous Materials Level I Responder certification meeting NFPA 472 standards through IFSAC or Pro Board
Employment Requirements
Selected applicants must successfully complete:
- Criminal background investigation
- Drug screening
- Written Firefighter II examination
- EMS medical scenario evaluation
- Physical agility assessment
- Oral interview
