Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Diesel Mechanic Fleet Technician to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our operations running smoothly by performing comprehensive mechanical repairs, troubleshooting complex systems, and conducting preventive maintenance on diesel engines and heavy machinery. Responsibilities
- Perform detailed diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, and electrical systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, air brake inspections, wheel alignments, and shock & strut replacements to ensure vehicle safety and reliability.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed for equipment repair or customization using power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools.
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers to test repairs and ensure proper function after service.
- Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues efficiently.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs performed; ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Assist with assembly or disassembly of equipment components during repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety protocols.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in automotive diagnostics and heavy equipment repair.
- Dealership experience is highly preferred for familiarity with manufacturer-specific systems such as Caterpillar or other industrial brands.
- Proficiency in fabricating parts or modifications using welding, soldering, power tools, and hand tools.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, air brake systems, suspension alignment, HVAC systems in vehicles/equipment, and tire service procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals accurately; strong mechanical knowledge across various machinery types including farm machinery and industrial equipment.
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators or cranes is a plus; must be comfortable with heavy lifting tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and clients when needed.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting heavy parts or equipment safely; familiarity with safety standards related to welding and industrial repairs is essential.
