Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced estimator to join our growing excavation and sitework team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for excavation, grading, utility, site development, roadwork, and earthmoving projects. This individual will play a key role in securing profitable work while collaborating with project managers, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and owners.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for excavation, grading, underground utilities, demolition, and site development projects.
- Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs using estimating software and blueprints.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Analyze labor, equipment, material, and production costs.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
- Develop bid proposals and submit completed estimates on time.
- Work closely with project managers during project handoff.
- Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions.
- Maintain current knowledge of construction costs, market trends, and industry standards.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting for upcoming projects.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of estimating experience in excavation, earthwork, utility, or heavy civil construction.
- Strong understanding of sitework construction methods and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with estimating software, GPS quantities, and takeoff programs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other construction management software.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience estimating projects ranging from $100,000 to $20+ million.
- Knowledge of DOT, municipal, commercial, and residential site development projects.
- Previous field experience in excavation or heavy civil construction.
Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
