Job Overview
We're hiring a motivated, detail-oriented Aquarium Specialist Apprentice to join our team. This is an entry-level role built for someone eager to learn a unique and rewarding trade from the ground up. You'll work closely with experienced techs, gaining hands-on experience in aquarium care, maintenance, and client service while building skills that lead to a real career.
We move fast and we want someone willing to learn quickly and work hard. No aquarium knowledge required. All training is provided one-on-one, in person. This is a full-time employee position from day one. This is for someone who wants to learn a specialized, high-end trade, build a long-term career, and get compensated directly for the work they put in.
Responsibilities
- Service and maintain saltwater/freshwater aquariums, including cleaning, water changes, and system care.
- Acclimate and care for fish, and learn to keep client systems healthy and thriving.
- Learn to test water parameters and troubleshoot aquarium health issues.
- Learn PVC plumbing and system work, a real part of the job.
- Deliver exceptional service to both residential and commercial clients.
- Participate in sales training, character development, and leadership opportunities.
- Document work performed and communicate clearly with clients and team.
- Keep a clean, organized workspace and follow all company protocols on-site.
Requirements
- No prior aquarium experience necessary. Training provided.
- Genuinely handy. You've built or fixed real things and you're comfortable with tools.
- PVC plumbing experience is a strong bonus, not a requirement.
- Strong attention to detail and a real willingness to learn.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must maintain a driving record that meets our insurance requirements. You'll be driving a company van to and from client sites.
- Physically capable of the work. You'll be on your feet all day and lifting 5 gallon water jugs, which are heavy, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to growth.
Pay and Growth
- Starting pay: $20/hour during the 6 month apprenticeship.
- Graduate to solo tech and move up to $25/hour.
- Keep climbing from there as you take on more skill, more workload, and more responsibility. Become a servicing specialist, then grow into leading techs and managing client relationships.
