The HR Generalist serves as a key business partner supporting employees and leaders across Hayward's Clemmons and Mocksville manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for executing a wide range of human resources functions including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, policy administration, compliance, and talent development.
The HR Generalist helps foster a positive workplace culture by providing coaching and guidance to employees and supervisors, ensuring consistent application of company policies, and supporting organizational objectives.
This position is based on site at Hayward's flagship manufacturing facility located in Clemmons, NC. The successful candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance and have the flexibility to support multiple shifts and business needs as required.
Employee Relations & Employee Experience
Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and leaders regarding workplace concerns, employee relations matters, policy interpretation, and HR best practices.
Conduct employee investigations and assist with resolution of workplace issues while ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and culture-building activities.
Assist leaders with performance management, coaching conversations, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive work environment that aligns with Hayward's values.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Partner with hiring managers to recruit, interview, and select qualified candidates for hourly positions.
Coordinate recruiting activities including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, offers, and pre-employment processes.
Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding to ensure a positive employee experience and successful integration into the organization.
Develop and maintain relationships with external recruiting sources, schools, community organizations, and staffing partners.
HR Operations & Compliance
Maintain employee records and ensure accurate data management within Workday and other HR systems.
Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and other applicable regulations.
Assist with leave administration and employee accommodations in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
Participate in audits and maintain HR documentation to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
Support policy communication and implementation across the organization.
Performance Management & Talent Development
Support annual performance review and goal-setting processes.
Assist managers in identifying development opportunities and succession planning needs.
Coordinate employee training and development programs, including leadership and compliance training.
Workforce Planning & Organizational Support
Collaborate with leadership on organizational changes, workforce planning, and employee retention initiatives.
Participate in cross-functional projects and continuous improvement efforts that enhance HR processes and employee experience.
Support special projects and other HR initiatives as assigned.
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of Human Resources principles, employment law, employee relations, and HR best practices.
Experience handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and influence leaders at all levels of the organization.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with HRIS systems, preferably Workday.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
Experience supporting employee relations, recruiting, performance management, and HR compliance
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, communicate effectively, and operate standard office equipment. The employee may occasionally need to travel throughout the manufacturing facility and interact with employees on the production floor.
Work Environment
This position operates in both an office and manufacturing environment. Regular interaction with production employees and leaders is required. The manufacturing environment may involve moderate noise levels and extended walking. Safety glasses and steel/composite toe shoes are required while on the production floor.
