JOB Performs a variety of assignments of moderate difficulty; assists in implementing and coordinating the county-wide recycling, and waste reduction programs, including demonstration projects and educational/promotional and informational activities; and performs other related duties as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This class differs from the Recycling Specialist II in that the Recycling Specialist III independently performs the full range of developing, implementing, and monitoring recycling and waste reduction programs predominantly of a moderately difficult nature; whereas the Recycling Specialist II performs selected assignments under close supervision requiring some application of the principles, techniques, and concepts pertinent to the County's recycling, reuse, and waste reduction programs.
This class differs from the Recycling Specialist IV in that the Recycling Specialist III independently performs the full range of developing, implementing and coordinating recycling and waste reduction programs, projects and activities of moderate difficulty; whereas the Recycling Specialist IV independently performs the full range and variety of developing, implementing, and monitoring recycling, and waste reduction programs of difficult and complex nature. Under general supervision, organizes, develops, implements and monitors existing and proposed recycling, reuse and waste reduction programs, demonstration projects, and educational and promotional activities; disseminates pertinent materials to schools, community groups and associations; conducts feasibility and system design studies through on-site investigation of facilities; establishes and monitors accounts relative to the various programs; processes registration forms and license applications; verifies qualifications and secures compliance agreements; maintains databases related to recycling, and recycling programs; compiles and evaluates data and statistics; conducts research; responds to recycling related queries from business, community organizations and the general public; prepares correspondence and reports.
