About Page Academy
Page Academy is a private TK-8th arts-integrated school that has been family-run for four generations since its founding in 1908. Arts integration at Page isn’t an add-on or an elective block. It’s how the academics are taught: research becomes performance, literature becomes production work, and history becomes oral storytelling. Our Newport Mesa campus at 657 Victoria Street in Costa Mesa serves students through eighth grade in small classes where faculty know every student well.
The Role
You’ll teach English Language Arts and History to our middle schoolers in grades 6 through 8. The ELA program centers on critical reading of full-length literature, long-form composition, original creative writing, and analytical essays across drama, fiction, criticism, and journalism. Academic expectations rise sharply year over year, because our eighth graders leave Page prepared for placement at top-choice high schools. Every student also completes an eighth-grade capstone, a finished creative work presented to a real audience before graduation, and you’ll play a meaningful role in guiding that work.
What You’ll Do
· Plan and deliver daily ELA and History instruction for grades 6-8
· Design units where creative work demonstrates academic mastery, so a research unit might culminate in a documentary, a debate, or a piece of dramatic writing rather than only a test
· Mentor eighth graders through the capstone process alongside our faculty team
· Assess student progress with clear standards and communicate regularly with families
· Collaborate with arts and academic faculty across the campus
· Contribute to the daily life of a close-knit campus community
Who You Are
· You hold a bachelor’s degree in English, History, Education, or a related field
· You have middle school teaching experience, or comparable experience working with this age group
· A California teaching credential is welcome but not required
· You’re a strong reader and writer yourself, and you hold students to real academic standards
· You’re energized by project-based, arts-integrated teaching rather than intimidated by it
