Functions as a member of the District Special Education Team, assisting in the assessment, identification and resolution of those problems which impact directly upon the student’s academic achievement.
Completes cognitive and emotional/behavioral assessments, as needed, of students referred for Special Education evaluation.
Attends staffings as required by PL 94-142 in the determination of any handicapping condition, and the sharing of information for educational planning.
Assists in identifying and discussing curricular implications from assessment data pertinent to the development of the Individual Educational Plan.
Provides affective services to students identified as handicapped, as determined by the IEP, including individual and/or group counseling, or as an alternative intervention prior to Special Education referral.
Provides necessary consultative services to Special Education personnel, teachers, counselors and parents.
Participates in interagency staffings pertinent to needs of identified students.
Assists Director of Special Education in program administration.
Committed to keeping abreast of new developments in the field (literature, seminars, in-service).
