Position Summary
The McCarthy National Yard team is looking for a Yard Data Senior Analyst to drive day-to-day reporting and deliver actionable insights across regional yard operations. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys diving into dashboards, solving real-world equipment problems with data, and occasionally running “what-if” simulations to guide smart decisions.
You’ll work directly with McCarthy’s National Yard Director and Emerging Tech Advisor, helping keep our data clean, our dashboards sharp, and our decisions well-informed. You’ll also support early AI initiatives aimed at reducing equipment downtime, optimizing fleet deployment, and automating repetitive analysis tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Initial Projects

Build dashboards for project-facing KPIs like yard spend, off-rent deltas, and project profit at yard.

Analyze telematics and Yard Hub data to identify national utilization patterns.

Develop early-stage procurement forecasts based on usage gaps and regional demand trends.
Operational Reporting & Dashboarding

Own and maintain Power BI dashboards for asset tracking, utilization, inventory health, and 28-day billing cycles.

Monitor and troubleshoot data refreshes and inconsistencies across Yard Hub and other sources.

Collaborate with IT and end-users to recommend improvements to Yard Hub functionality and ERP integrations.
Ad-Hoc & Scenario-Based Analysis

Partner with the National Yard Director to answer if/then-style questions and short-turnaround analysis.

Use Excel, Power BI, and basic simulations to forecast impacts of equipment movements, procurement changes, or rental rates.

Present clear, action-ready summaries that help drive operational decisions.
AI & Innovation Support

Explore AI-driven tools and lightweight scripting (e.g., Python or other analytics platforms) to identify trends and automate common data tasks.

Support basic predictive modeling (e.g., maintenance alerts, utilization forecasts) using AI tools, Python notebooks, or Excel simulations.

Help test and provide feedback on AI pilots in Yard Hub (Custom Enterprise Billing System).
Data Stewardship & Taxonomy Management

Maintain clean and consistent categorization across Major Type > Minor Type > Cat Class structure.

Reconcile duplicates, mismatches, and legacy category issues across five regional entities.

Lead API-based data crosschecking across rental vendors with different taxonomies, building logic tables that normalize external category labels into the Yard Hub system taxonomy.
Qualifications

1–5 years in a data analyst, business intelligence, or operations analyst role

Proficiency with Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modeling) and Excel

Basis understanding of coding languages and execution

Experience querying databases (SQL) and working with large datasets

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to turn messy data into clean answers

Clear communicator comfortable working with both technical teams and field operation

Experience in construction, logistics, or equipment-heavy industries preferred

Familiarity with inventory/asset tracking management systems preferred

Exposure to AI tools, statistical modeling, or simulation software pre

Basic Python (pandas/matplotlib) or R for data exploration and forecasting preferred
