Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry, providing necessary tools and materials promptly.
- Take dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards.
- Manage patient records accurately using patient management software open dental , ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality policies.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, taking vital signs as needed, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and empathy.
- Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling administrative tasks efficiently as a dental receptionist.
- Maintain infection control protocols through proper dental instrument processing, aseptic technique, and adherence to healthcare infection prevention standards.
- Assist with dental equipment setup and troubleshooting to ensure smooth clinical operations during procedures involving oral surgery or prosthodontics.
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental wellness.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as open dental for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Familiarity with dental sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques to ensure safety for patients and staff.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging devices confidently.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Certification in radiography (dental x-ray) is required.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise is essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
