JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:
OKCYC provides residential treatment for at-risk youth in Oklahoma. Officers are responsible for the care, welfare, safety, security, and control of residents within the Center and during transports outside of the facility.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 21 years old or older (per OKDHS Licensing Standards)
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s in social services is preferred
- Experience in youth care, behavioral health, or special education is preferred
- Strong communication and crisis intervention skills
- Familiarity with HIPAA, behavior management, and trauma-informed care is a bonus
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the shift
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as needed to support daily activities and ensure resident safety
KEY OR TYPICAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs intake functions according to established procedures.
- Receives, searches, and removes personal property from youth; provides clothing and hygiene articles; beds and units.
- Searches and maintains records pertaining to behavior and personal history; files and/or routes forms, records, reports, and evaluations; completes and files sheets withreports on all resident behaviors.
- Provides for health, safety and recreation needs of juveniles provides time on a daily basis for personal hygiene; dispenses prescribed medication; provides first-aid when needed; provides laundry service; performs inspections on an hourly basis or according to security checklist; checks security of building, doors, and windows; maintains security of juveniles; provides positive individual and group supervision of juveniles participating in programming; provides crisis intervention to youth; prepares juveniles for school programs by ensuring school groups are released according to schedule.
- Monitors visiting hours and visitors, ensuring authorization of each visitor, checks for signatures on all pertinent documents; searches after visiting hours are over.
- Receives incoming calls on telephone and interoffice communication system, routes calls and routes or handles requests.
- Prepares or assists in preparation of daily activities and schedule in accordance with program
- Operate and maintain the security and integrity of the Center.
- Performs functions related to maintaining cleanliness and physical condition of Building.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Duties
- Provides positive individual and group supervision. Always supervises residents to ensure that youth are within the staff site.
- Ensures all protocols are being followed by residents, staff, and security to include but not limited to bathroom, shower, medication, and transportation.
- Completes daily resident progress notes as assigned.
- Utilizes safe and effective de-escalation and redirection techniques as needed for escalated youth.
- Performs essential duties in a proactive and professional manner.
- Performs other duties as needed.
