Machine Operator High Risk Area - Espuña LLC. - Gloversville, NY
Espuna LLC., a Spanish-based charcuterie and meat snack manufacturing company, requires the services of a Packaging Line Worker (Evening Shift). Packaging Line Workers are responsible for efficiently packing, labeling, boxing and transporting in-process or finished goods within our Gloversville Facility.
The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of
GEA slicing and packaging Multivacs. This role ensures product quality, yield
optimization, productivity targets, and compliance with food safety, production
planning, and preventive maintenance standards. The operator works closely with
supervisor, quality, and managment to ensure smooth daily operations.
Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
- Assemble and disassemble GEA slicing equipment correctly and safely according
- to SOPs.
- Sharpen and maintain slicing blades to ensure optimal cut quality and yield.
- Feed product into the machine efficiently. No down time.
- Adjust machine parameters (slice thickness, speed, weight control, etc.) as per
- product specifications.
- Control and synchronize machine speeds with loaders and downstream
- equipment to maximize efficiency and avoid bottlenecks.
- Change machine films and packaging materials properly, minimizing waste and
- downtime.
Pre-Operational & Food Safety
- Assist the Supervisor in completing pre-operational inspections (pre-op) of the
- machine.
- Verify machine cleanliness, blade condition, safety guards, and operational
- readiness before production start.
- Follow all GMP, USDA, and food safety requirements at all times.
- Production Control & Quality
- Review and fully understand the daily production planner before starting
- operations.
- Introduce correct lot numbers and production dates into the Domino printer
- according to planner.
- Monitor product weight continuously and adjust machine settings when
- deviations occur.
- Work proactively to achieve optimal production yield and minimize giveaway.
- Ensure high productivity with no rework.
- Identify and correct slicing, weight, or packaging issues in real time.
Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on the machine as assigned.
- Identify maintenance issues, worn components, or broken parts. Inform and
- take immediate action.
- Work on machines with maintenance issues within operator scope and escalate
- complex issues to supervisor and management.
- Communicate clearly any spare parts used, parts replaced, or stock recounts to
- Supervisor and Management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating industrial machinery.
- Highly valued for experience in food processing, film printing machinery, slicing
· machinery.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to adjust and troubleshoot equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, especially regarding weight control, labeling, and
· traceability.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
· Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, move, and handle machine components and raw materials.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime as required by plant
· management.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High-School Diploma / GED
· Must possess basic mathematical and literacy skills
