Job Summary
We are seeking a responsible, patient care worker to support an easy going individual with Down syndrome. The individual loves music, miracle league, working and being active! Apply if you want to be part of the care team. Part time hours are: Mondays & Tuesdays 830-430pm (firm), and Saturdays or Sundays 9-5pm (flexible). Compensation is $20/hour. When you accompany and help with Job coaching the pay will be $22/hour. A monthly gas stipend will also be provided.
Responsibilities
- .Training in interpersonal skills, development and maintenance of personal relationships
- Transportation and skill building to support the individual in increasing community living skills, such as: shopping, recreation, grocery shopping, and other community activities.
- Transportation to work (Raleigh) for a 3 hour shift on Mondays and Tuesdays.
- Job Coach at work to ensure individual does the job correctly, completely and safely.
- Support, supervise dressing appropriately for weather & clothing orientation.
- Ensure individual has the opportunity to exercise regularly (go for walks, swim, dance class, yoga) in the home or in the community.
- Provide assistance /supervision with simple meal preparation and light housekeeping chores
- Provide encouragement to maintain skills that have been taught
- Work with individual on general safety (fire exits, what to do if lost, etc)
- Respite will be offered as extra hours (not mandatory) at a rate of $19/hour.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school Diploma or GED
- Hold a valid North Carolina or other valid driver's license, a safe driving record and an acceptable level of automobile liability insurance.
- Qualified in CPR and First Aid, or able to complete CPR and First Aid training (paid)
- At least three years experience
- Criminal background check deem no health and safety risk to the participant
- Ability to successfully complete all trainings (paid) required for the position
- Ability to complete required documents
- Ability to report incidents that may occur in a timely manner
