Stryker Heating, Cooling & Plumbing, Inc. is seeking an Experienced Plumbing Helper to join our growing team. We work throughout the counties and surrounding areas of Hunterdon, Somerset, Warren, and Morris in New Jersey, in addition to some areas of eastern Pennsylvania.
The ideal candidate will have previous commercial plumbing experience, a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively alongside experienced plumbers and other members of a construction crew. The right candidate should take pride in their work, follow instructions, work safely, and be committed to developing their plumbing skills.
This position involves assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial plumbing systems on a variety of construction and renovation projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a physically demanding construction environment and be willing to take on increasing responsibility as their skills and experience develop.
Experienced Plumbing Helper Responsibilities:
- Assist plumbers and foremen with the installation, assembly, maintenance, and repair of commercial plumbing systems
- Assist with the installation of piping systems, including copper, cast iron, PVC, CPVC, and steel pipe
- Assist with underground and above-ground rough-in work
- Assist with setting fixtures, equipment, and plumbing trim
- Measure, cut, thread, and prepare pipe and materials as directed
- Assist with material handling, loading and unloading tools and materials, and maintaining adequate jobsite supplies
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and properly
- Follow directions from plumbers, foremen, and project managers
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving plumbing issues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company safety policies, jobsite requirements, and applicable plumbing codes
- Work cooperatively with plumbers, foremen, project managers, and other trades on job sites
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as experience and proficiency increase
Experienced Plumbing Helper Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial plumbing experience preferred
- Previous experience assisting with commercial plumbing installation, maintenance, or renovation projects
- Basic understanding of commercial plumbing systems and installation practices
- Familiarity with common plumbing materials, fittings, hand tools, and power tools
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a crew
- Willingness and ability to learn new plumbing skills and techniques
- Ability to work safely in construction environments
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and work in physically demanding environments
- Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and in confined or difficult-to-access areas when required
- OSHA certification is a plus
- Plumbing-related education, trade school, or apprenticeship experience is a plus
