Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Flooring Purchasing & Showroom Assistant (Full-time or Part-time) to support our purchasing operations while also assisting our showroom and retail sales team.
Flooring industry experience and product knowledge are highly preferred. The ideal candidate will be familiar with flooring products, vendors, installation materials, and industry terminology. Full-time candidates will be eligible for all company benefits offered.
Responsibilities
Purchasing & Inventory
- Place flooring and installation material orders with vendors.
- Enter purchase orders and follow up on confirmations, pricing, availability, and delivery dates.
- Monitor open orders, backorders, and delayed materials.
- Review receiving tickets for shortages, damage, or incorrect materials and follow up as needed.
- Maintain accurate inventory and make adjustments when necessary.
- Update vendor and retail pricing in the computer system.
- Request current pricing, product information, and availability from vendors.
- File and follow up on claims for defective or damaged materials.
Showroom & Customer Support
- Answer showroom phones, emails, and customer inquiries professionally.
- Assist with customer scheduling, measure confirmations, and appointment coordination.
- Enter and maintain customer and project information.
- Process financing paperwork and credit card transactions.
- Provide warranty and maintenance documents to customers upon project completion.
- Maintain flooring samples, displays, showroom supplies, and a clean, organized showroom.
- Support retail sales staff with administrative tasks.
Qualifications
- Flooring product knowledge and industry experience strongly preferred.
- Purchasing, order entry, inventory, receiving, or vendor experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Comfortable using computers and learning company software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on outstanding orders and issues.
- Dependable, professional, and able to work independently.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and proactive, with an interest in the flooring industry. Someone who understands flooring products and can confidently work with vendors, purchase orders, inventory, and receiving will be especially successful in this position.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
