On-Site Hiring Event — The Landmark Hotel
About the Opportunity
Ian Munsick's Cowboy Bar is coming to Deadwood, and we're building our opening team from the ground up. This is a brand-new restaurant and live music venue currently under construction, and we're hiring experienced Servers and Bartenders who want to be part of something from day one.
If you know Deadwood — the roar of rally season, the packed summer nights, and the quieter winter stretches — and you want to work alongside a crew that backs each other up no matter what, we want to meet you.
Positions Available
- Server — $8.00/hour plus tips
- Bartender — $10.00/hour plus tips
- Lead Bartender — $12.00/hour plus tips (based on experience and demonstrated leadership)
Pay rate is determined by position, experience, and availability (With the yearly adjustments taken into account as necessary).
Tips are in addition to the hourly rate listed.
Key Dates
- On-site interviews: The Landmark Hotel
- Pre-training study materials: provided shortly after hire, required to be completed before day one. This way you have a basic understanding of what we offer.
- Training week: begins the week of September 7
- Launch week: September 14
- Grand Opening: Friday, September 18
What We're Looking For
- Prior serving and/or bartending experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- As much flexibility you can offer during training week and launch week (September 7–20). After launch, we'll transition you to a steady schedule built around your availability.
- Willingness to complete our provided learning materials before day one of training, and to pass our training assessments in order to earn a spot on the opening launch team
- A genuine team-first attitude — we cover for each other, we jump in where we're needed, and nobody says "that's not my table or thats not my job". One team, one dream.
- Understanding of Deadwood's seasonal rhythms, including the ability and willingness to cover multiple stations during slower seasons when we're running a leaner crew
- Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays, including rally, event, and peak tourism weeks (We will work with your schooling or specific availabilities as needed)
- Must meet South Dakota's minimum age requirement for serving and/or mixing alcoholic beverages.
What You'll Do
- Deliver fast, warm, genuinely hospitable service to every guest who walks through the door
- Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits to our recipe and presentation standards
- Take orders, run food and drinks, and manage multiple tables or bar stations during peak volume
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately on our POS system
- Keep your station, the bar, and the dining areas clean, stocked, and organized to health and sanitation standards
- Monitor inventory, restock, and help minimize waste
- Follow all alcohol service laws and responsible beverage service policies, including checking IDs and cutting off over-served guests
- Support the show — help load-ins, set changes, and event flow run smoothly so the music never stops
- Step into whatever station or role the shift requires
Artist Safe Space — Please Read
This venue is an artist safe space. When performers are in the building — including major touring acts — our job is to protect their space, not to be in it. Candidates must:
- Respect all artist, crew, and green room boundaries at all times
- Refrain from approaching performers for photos, autographs, conversation, or social media content while on shift
- Keep artist privacy, comfort, and well-being as a top priority
- Maintain confidentiality regarding artists, guests, and venue operations
- Help keep our shows running smoothly and safely for everyone
Failure to respect these boundaries is grounds for immediate termination. If being around big names is the reason you want this job, this isn't the job for you. If making sure those shows go off flawlessly is the reason, come talk to us.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, typically 6–10 hours per shift
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to [50] lbs (kegs, cases, ice, bus tubs)
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and climbing stairs
- Ability to work in a loud, crowded environment with live amplified music and variable lighting
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role
