Responsibilities
- Provide prompt and accurate medical assessments for patients presenting with acute illnesses or injuries in the emergency department.
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and order appropriate diagnostic tests including medical imaging such as X-rays, MRI, CT scans, and ultrasound.
- Develop and implement effective treatment plans, including medication administration, wound care, suturing, airway management, and pain control.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to document patient encounters thoroughly and efficiently while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate with specialists across disciplines such as cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and radiology for complex cases requiring specialized intervention.
- Lead triage efforts to prioritize patient care based on severity and urgency while managing multiple cases simultaneously in a high-pressure setting.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives by participating in clinical research, discharge planning, and patient education to enhance overall care outcomes.
Requirements
- Medical degree from an accredited institution with active licensure to practice medicine in Texas
- Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine or related specialties such as Critical Care or Family Medicine with emergency experience.
- ATLS, ACLS & PALS
- Post-residency experience working in an emergency room or Level I/II trauma center environment.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare diagnosis procedures, medical terminology, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to emergency care.
- Experience performing procedures such as suturing, intubation, IV infusion, wound care, and airway management.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations efficiently while demonstrating excellent communication skills with patients and team members.
- Familiarity with diagnostic radiology interpretation and medical imaging modalities including CT scans is preferred.
