Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Crew Manager to lead and work alongside our landscape maintenance team. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing daily crew operations, maintaining high-quality landscape standards, and ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and operating safely. The ideal candidate will have strong plant knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional results in high-end urban landscapes and downtown courtyard environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and work directly alongside landscape maintenance crews in the field.
- Oversee daily operations to ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to company standards.
- Monitor crew productivity, quality of work, and adherence to schedules.
- Train, mentor, and develop crew members in proper horticultural and maintenance practices.
- Ensure all landscape equipment, tools, and vehicles are properly maintained, serviced, and operated safely.
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on landscape equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot small engine equipment, including Toro and Stihl products.
- Identify plant health issues, pests, diseases, and irrigation concerns and implement appropriate solutions.
- Maintain the highest standards of fine-detail landscape maintenance, with a primary focus on downtown courtyards and high-visibility commercial properties.
- Communicate effectively with management, clients, and crew members regarding site conditions, priorities, and project updates.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of landscape maintenance experience with supervisory or crew leadership responsibilities.
- Strong horticultural and plant identification knowledge required.
- Proven experience performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on Toro and Stihl landscape equipment.
- Knowledge of small engine operation, preventative maintenance, and equipment safety procedures.
- Experience maintaining high-end commercial properties, courtyards, and detailed landscape installations preferred.
- Ability to lead by example and work hands-on with crews daily.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple sites and responsibilities.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
